Sign and lock SOAP notes
Signing a SOAP note records who approved it and when. Locking a note makes it read-only, so it can't be edited, signed or deleted again.
Sign a note
- 1
Open the note from the appointment or the client's Notes, and click Sign note. In the client's Notes, you can also use the more options (three dots) button on the note.
- 2
Add your signature. Depending on your Note Settings, type your name, draw it, or both.
- 3
Click Save signature. The note shows Signed, with your name and the date.
A note can be signed by a team member booked on the appointment, or by someone who manages the whole team's SOAP notes.
Lock a note
- 1
Open the note and click Lock note.
- 2
Click Lock to confirm.
The note shows a Locked badge. Only a team member booked on the appointment or the business owner can lock a note. If Require signature to lock is on, sign the note first.
Edit or delete a note
Open the note and click Edit note or Delete, or use the more options (three dots) button on the note in the client's Notes.
- Editing a signed note removes its signature, so it must be signed again.
- A locked note can't be edited or deleted. Hover over a greyed-out action to see why it isn't available.
